Mothers' Day is just over. If you celebrated it, how was your day? Personally I had a makan frenzy of Hongkong desserts for lunch and local entrees like satay for dinner. My mother always says, "Eat your desserts first!" and we all know mothers know best!

 

Nonetheless, the memory of spending the whole day with my family was priceless. And that brings me to this week's project : Keeping the memory in a simple layout.

 

 

This week I have used one of my favourite brand , Websters and this is the Love Is kit. I love how well coordinated they look once I put them together. I have only to add flowers from the same brand and more that were ‘leftovers’ from the previous projects.

One of the most frequently asked question about putting a bunch of flowers together is how to coordinate and pick the right flowers. My answer is quite easy actually. I always hold on to these 2 pointers. The first is to pick the flowers according to the colours that you see in your layout. The second pointer is to have a good number of small to big flowers. That’s it! It is as easy as that. You can then just play around with its placement and the number of flowers that you deem fit for the layout.

I do hope that you will immortalise your Mothers’ Day memory in a simple layout or even an album. Memories are experiences that are uniquely yours <3 font="">

Hello there!

Weddings are always a joyous occasion and as crafters, I am sure you itch to play a part in it. Well, for this week, I have gathered some ideas for a guest book set-up. Here goes:

I simply love Websters!

In this project there is actually a bit of coordination and foresight. A lot of the papers were mainly used in the guest book itself. The board, however, needed a bit of scraps from your last projects ( a good opportunity to used your leftovers and nic-nacs!)

Since the guests will be penning down their well wishes, I thought it is more sentimental if they were to do it the more traditional way… through letters. Thus the mini envelopes.

The guest book has the idea flowing in it too.

The cream flaps that you see will have Instax photographs pasted under them and so the flaps act as a protector AND doubles as spaces for the guests to pen down their wishes. Saves a lot of papers and cost, I tell you! Hehehe!

Hello fellow new and experienced crafters!

We will be having a double celebration in February : Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day . I am sure the 2 celebrations will tear you apart! LOL! Fear not! Start your cards now.

For today I have made 3 cards and categorized them under easy peasy level , medium pedium level and you-need-the-love level.

And this is my stash for the month.

 

 

Easy Peasy Level Card

For this card, I simply cut the ready tags-on-a-page and stuck one to the front of a 6” by 4” card. After that this card only required 2 pieces of short rectangular papers and blings!

 

The inside is also simple.

 

I tied a red string around it before pasting another tag from the paper stash. Then just bling it up!
As the string kind of run around, I took another tag and pasted it on the back page to hold it down. This also lend the card a nice finished look.



Just use a ready envelope to save the time

 

Medium Pedium Level Card

OK this card requires a bit more time but it is still easy enough for a newbie to try.

It is a single sided card and a slot-in envelope that has no flap.

 

Here’s the card :

 

It is a 12” by 6” paper folded along the middle. The tag was from the same paper as the earlier card. Just cut and paste. As for the ticket, you can actually buy it or simply print your own (which is quite easy to do). Let’s take a look at them together. 

 

 

Unique card idea, don’t you think? Use it to save the headache of thinking the kind of card you want to do for your special one.



 

You-need-the-love Level

OK this one requires more handiwork and in specific, needlework. But of course it has been made easy with the Sew Easy Kit ( I love this!)

 

 



So crisp and pretty! I love using ledger papers for layouts but it made a nice card set too! Let’s take a look at the card first. 

 

This card was layered and then sewn together. It has a backing to hide the needlework, too, making it a thick and sturdy card. Let’s look at the inside now.

 

Simple and clean lines, too. The tag is from the same paper that I have used in the earlier 2 cards. One page of that tag goes a long way!

Let’s look at them together now.

Hi holiday makers!

 

I am feeling the stress of having an improper holiday. Yup! An improper holiday. That is what happens when you plan for a holiday and feel too stressed that what you have planned for the family, will not turn out well! Really! ( ...and for that, I want another holiday lol! )

 

Anyway, 2012 is drawing to an end real soon and I am sinking in the massive preparation for 2013!

 

Daytime work, kids' schools, weekend business and the occasional workshops ... that's a handful to keep me on my toes and keep my eyes and brain ticking throughout the night. That's why planning is very essential for me.

 

So, for this week, I will share with you what I have planned for my PSLE going daughter : a 2013 pictorial journal. It will be something that she can use to collect the memories of her last year in primary school. I believe she will use it as she is quite an avid author and quite creative at it too.

 

For this project I have used Graphic 45 papers and embellishments from Tim Holtz:

I just love these corners. They add to the rusticness of the whole emblem. 

...and what papers will be the most appropriate if not Graphic 45's ABC Primer!

I have about 46 pages in this album and they have all of the paper from this range .

I have also layered papers and tags here. I have to keep it quite flat as I am not too sure how the album would survive the rough handling of a child's school bag.

...and here's the final look.

I do hope you will make an album to capture such moments for your child or of your child. It will be worth the while when they pull it out one day and show it to their children :)

The school holidays are here again! How are you mummies and daddies coping ? I am sure your kids are enjoying themselves tremendously.

For this week's project, I was given a stash to work with. It consisted of products ranging from patterned papers to ribbons and stickers to stamps. I chose to include Sew Easy into this project since I just got them (and am dying to use them!).

 

My head spun with so many possibilities. But as usual, the idea got changed as I moved along the production quest. I had wanted to do a layering technique but ended up rather simply to enhance the prints of KCK's Glittering Glamour.

 

As you can see the final look is simple and that simplicity lends it a rather elegant look ...hmmm actually muchos gracias to the chandelier and candelabra hehehe... 

 

Anyway, here are some close shots of the details.

 

In my next projects, I think I would play with more Sew Easy. It felt like there is still great potential to be explored. But I liked the way it was easier to thread through the thick papers.

Hi all,

Are you enjoying the Hari Raya Festival yet?

It's a great opportunity to capture memories of families and friends of different races feasting and bonding ... but how do you find time to scrap them? I know scrapping will take 3 hours off my sleep! ..and I want to sleep! LOL! But of course, after some personal banter, scrapping will always win. So, here's a really simple one-hour layout to help you release your creative mojo during this sleep-depriving festive season.

What do you think? :) As you can see, it promotes layering and clustered embellishments.

Here's a sketch to help you along :
  

Nothing much to think about really... just grab :

1) 4 coordinated patterned papers, choose 3 to be layered. I like to play with contrasting colours which saves lots of time. The last piece of paper is for the picture placemat AND the flags. Do grab your pack of papers with contrasting colors which are available at Krafer's.

2) A bunch of flowers based on the colours that you can see in your papers (even the smallest flower can  perfectly coordinated with the layout).

3) A length of twine.

4) A couple of brads which you can mix and match.

5) A pair of scissor.

6) Strong glue

7) A printed 4R photo.
